Pat went from being just one of The Dirtiest Dudes In Town to being a total dick. Philippe has gotten a little more disillusioned (well, slightly) as he sees cruelty in the world (sometimes directed against him). Molly's gone from a relatively anonymous Heavenly fling to being an earth-bound girlfriend of Beef. &c.
[edit] Overall character development
All of the major characters have undergone major development as the strip has progressed. This has been necessary as Onstad has added extra layers of complexity to the strip, adding dimensions to his characters. The stuffed animals as a whole have evolved from characters who hid in the Onstad house and had to remain out of sight of the population (perhaps even masking their "alive-ness" from the Onstads themselves) into characters who routinely visit the neighbors, take walks in the neighborhood, call radio programs, and generally do more than simply look out the window. The cats have changed from a more real-life cat persona, having owners, to living self-sufficiently, owning their own homes and behaving in public much like the stuffed animals. This has resulted in some contradictions in individual characters: Mr. Bear, for instance, is shown in an early strip sampling liquors with Téodor, apparently for the first time. As Mr. Bear's character has developed, though, it is shown that he has been a friend of alcohol for quite some time.
The robots, interestingly enough, have seen the least evolvement of their characters. This may be because they were (with the exception of Lie Bot) introduced later, and may also be because they were not initially developed with any need to hide from society as the stuffed animals were (or to hide their sentience, as the cats).
