Talk:Japan Man
From Achewiki
Continuing our wikiwide character discussion, what do we do about Japan Man? Do we consider the personas of LN such as Japan Man and Lord Absinthe as sorts of characters? Or should we launch an "Aliases of Little Nephew" category? --Golfhaus 15:55, 17 May 2005 (GMT)
I'm inclided to list his in the characters cat. but have a line right at the top of the entry saying "Persona of Little Nephew." Ditto for Lord A. and any other Grandmaster B-type people he invents. Then at the LN profile add a bulleted list to the end with links to the persona pages. --CortJstr 16:20, 17 May 2005 (GMT)
I'm not so sure... it's basically LN playing make-believe. I don't know that those creations warrant being called characters. I think breaking them off into a separate category would be easier to understand. What we need more of is input. --Golfhaus 17:37, 17 May 2005 (GMT)
I definitely see what you're saying. I was picturing the Characters category as a grand-high list of anything with a personality similar to the Tick's Circus of the Mighty/Circus Maximus.
The only reason I was against a cat. is that he's had all of 2 personas that I can think of. 3 if you count the one-strip Hand of Dixie. But then again some of our other cats. aren't exactly busting at the seams.
My other inclination was to list all his personalities on the LN page, but that would require people to use the wiki-equivilent of <A NAME> links if they wanted to link to Lord Absinthe which seems overly complicated for our wiki. We do need more input. Where the hell is everybody? --CortJstr 18:14, 17 May 2005 (GMT)
There appears to be a bit of activity at present. Hopefully some of them will wander in.
I just read V-Adore's page creation for Nice Pete, and realized that he had an alias too - he went as The Death Sound for a strip. So maybe an "Aliases of Little Nephew" category would be too narrow, but an "Aliases Used By Achewood Characters" category would be useful. --Golfhaus 18:49, 17 May 2005 (GMT)
An Aliases page might be useful, but archiving every alias ever used by any Achewood character seems to be a bit fancrufty, even for a solely Achewood wiki. I think it's mostly useful for things where it was an actual plot point (such as LN posing as Japan Man or Lie Bot posing as Uncle Culpepper). If people believe otherwise... well, I call not-it on the article about pants_come_off. --V-Adore
This is true - we have to draw a Line of Sensibility here somewhere. I think The Death Sound would fall above that line, Vlad12Roses would fall below. A line like "Teodor often uses the alias 'pants_come_off' when chatting online" in his entry would be more than sufficient, I think. --Golfhaus 19:07, 17 May 2005 (GMT)
